Food Security
ADP prioritizes food security in our neighborhoods and in the broader community. By meeting people's basic needs, our communities are empowered to engage more deeply in civic life.
ADP Receives a generous donation from Fallon Community Health - these funds are used to provide each ADP member household with a Thanksgiving Turkey.
- ADP runs four all-volunteer-run food cooperatives in Greenfield, Springfield and Westfield
- Facilities and Volunteer staff valued at $330,000 / year
- Coops provide 1,000 ADP families per month a one-week supply of food
- 200,000 pounds of food from Food Bank distributed in 2010
- Fresh produce, pastries, and breads are donated by area businesses & distributed weekly
- Market value: $100 / package x 1,000 families / mo x 12 mos = $1,200,000
- 1,500 Turkeys distributed by and for ADP families every Thanksgiving
- Market value @ $15 / turkey = $22,500
- Free Summer Breakfast and Lunch sites in 4 ADP neighborhoods
- Serving approximately 500 children 2 meals / day every summer = 60,000 meals served
